Gauge Parts and Services

In addition to my conversions and innovations I service accessory gauges such as Oil pressure, Temperature, Fuel and Clocks. I will also install overlay kits purchased from RCCI. I do not service speedometers or ammeters other than cleaning the mech and dial and painting the pointers.

Clock Servicing - Ford, Lincoln, Mercury OEM BORG movements 1964-1973

Don't want to lose the classic movement of your factory clock by converting to quartz? Let me repair, clean and adjust the original movement. I can perform minor repairs to the movement for less than half of a conversion. If your original movement is not repairable I have a stock of repaired OEM units so I can replace the entire movement if necessary.

  • If I can't fix your clock I only charge $10.00 for diagnosis and refund the rest of the service charge.
  • Price includes a NEW set of contacts. The contacts are the most failure prone part of these clocks.
  • If any other parts are needed you will be contacted before any work is done.
  • Clock repair requires the core clock be complete and have a working set mechanism (used to set the time).
  • Purchase a new lens from me and I will install it free of charge.
  • Repaired clocks have a 2 year repair or refund warranty.
  • NOTE: This service is for clocks with Borg movements only. Borg type clocks are marked on the back of the case with a B.
    The rectangular console clocks and many dash clocks after 1970 used General Time movements and have GT stamped into the back of the case. Given the poor condition of most GT clocks sent in I no longer service them.

    Clock Conversion to quartz - Ford, Lincoln, Mercury BORG movements

    Want the accuracy and reliability of a modern quartz clock? I can convert your clock so it runs like a new one.

  • BORG clocks have a 'B' stamped on the back of the case.
  • General Time movements are stamped 'GT' and I cannot convert them to quartz.
  • A converted clock will not have the distinct 'click' when winding and the second hand will sweep rather than step, but otherwise looks and installs like the original.
  • Converting to quartz requires the core clock be complete and have a working set mechanism (used to set the time).
  • Purchase a new lens from me and I will install it free of charge.
  • Quartz conversions and parts have a lifetime warranty. Don't settle for less!

    M7123DC Clock Conversion - Ford, Lincoln, Mercury OEM GT movements 1969-1973

    Ford used Borg movements in most of their clocks, but some of their specialty clocks used a General Time movement. Most of these are found in the 69-73 Mustang rectangular console clocks and the 71-73 Mustang dashboard clocks. They also used them in the '71-73 Cougar console clocks.
    The movement type is stamped into the back of the case: BORG are stamped with a 'B', General Time are stamped 'GT'.
    The GT movement is a rather poor design, prone to coil failures and melt downs and parts are very hard to find. I no longer service or repair GT clock movements.

    Since the GT clock is so different from the Borg clock the modern quartz conversions will not work without extensive rework to the mounting plate and set mechanism. If you want a GT clock converted to quartz you will have to send it to Instrument Services, Inc. (ISI) in Machesney Park, IL - the folks that make the Borg quartz conversion kits. Or....

    I can convert your GT console clock to a digital/analog clock. For years I have been trying to find a solution for the burned up GT clocks out there. I finally have a solution that works great, is affordable, bolt-in and looks (almost) stock.

  • A converted clock will not have the distinct 'click' when winding because it does not wind.
  • The hands move once every 30 seconds so there is no second hand, otherwise it looks and installs like the original.
  • The converted clock uses very little power (less than 0.02A*) and has no motor to run 24/7 like a quartz movement.
  • This conversion does not use the mechanical set mechanism so broken or missing set stems are not a problem.
  • Purchase a new lens from me and I will install it free of charge.
  • My clock conversions and parts have a lifetime warranty. Don't settle for less!

  • * The converted clock is using .02A @ 12 volts. Compare this to a fuel gauge that uses .07A @ 6 volts (.14A @ 12V).

    Replacement lens for 67-68 XR7 rally clock. The originals are concaved slightly, these are flat. Made from clear Acrylic to resist scratching, discoloring and UV damage.

    Replacement lens for 69-70 XR7 and Eliminator clock. Replace your cloudy, scratched lens with a brand new one precision molded and concaved to be an exact duplicate of the original. The sides and edge are painted like the original and the new Elapsed Time pointer and knob are installed at the proper angle thanks to the molded (not drilled) center hole.

    Trip Odometer renewal

    Trip odometers are a cool option, but the artwork did not hold up. Are your trip odometer numbers sun faded, dried out or missing? I can reface your faded trip odeometer numerals.
    No need to disassemble your speedometer - send the entire unit and I will even paint the pointer if you ask.

  • RCCI warranty does not cover the gauges you supply to be renewed or calibrated.
  • Pointers are repainted to original color.

    G1XR - 67/68 XR7 Gauge Renewal

    Gauge Renewal of 67/68 XR7 Temp, Oil, Fuel & Amps includes one G1XO overlay kit, installation of G1XO overlays, pointer renewal and caibration of Fuel, Oil and Temperature gauges.

  • All RCCI products used to renew your OEM gauges come with a lifetime repair or replace warranty. This warranty does not cover the gauges you supply to be renewed or calibrated.
  • Pointers are repainted to original color. Orange pointers simulate aging unless you request a 'red' pointer that looks like the pointer did when new.
