G1XV - Volt Meter for 1967-1968 Mercury Cougar XR7
The G1XV is the Amp meter from a 67 or 68 XR7 converted to read volts.
It has a new overlay that duplicates the original -60 / +60 amp scale, but has been
modified to read 10 / 15 on a volt scale.
These meters are calibrated to read centered at 12.5VDC, so you can tell at a glance
what your charging system is doing - to the right of center is charging, to the left of
center indicates discharge.
The G1XV also comes with a lens with the word "Amps" removed. I will supply a small "Volts" label that you can apply to the gauge hood if desired. If you do not send your lens in I will deduct $5.00 and you will NOT receive a reworked lens.
Note: The pointer will NOT be centered like an Amp gauge without power. When unpowered the needle will sweep far left to show "0" volts.

I can convert most other Ford and Mercury Amp meters to read volts.
Although not refaced with a volt scale, these meters are still calibrated to read centered at 12.5VDC, so you can tell at a glance what your charging system is doing - to the right of center is charging, to the left of center indicates discharge.

*Candidates for conversion must have the deep metal case as shown below. The shallow case from a Fuel, Temp or Oil gauge will NOT work, nor will the open case style.
